Gravure Printing for PE Bags

Gravure printing (also known as cylinder printing) is a modern printing method with a fully automated process. This technique uses intaglio printing, where the elements to be printed—such as text and images—are engraved into the surface of a copper-plated printing cylinder with a thickness of approximately 100 microns.

Modern gravure printing machines are available in many configurations, including 1-color, 2-color, 3-color, 4-color, and even 7-color or 8-color printing systems. Gravure printing on PE bags has become very popular due to its high precision and excellent printing quality.

How Gravure Printing Works

In the gravure printing process, the printing elements are engraved into the metal surface of the copper cylinder. Ink is then applied to these engraved areas, and a specialized doctor blade removes excess ink from the surface, leaving ink only in the recessed engraved areas.

Under printing pressure, the ink from these recessed cells is transferred onto the surface of the packaging material.

Gravure printing on PE bags provides high-quality results, fast production speed, and the ability to print large volumes in a single run. However, this method is most suitable for large-scale orders, as the printing cost is typically higher than other printing techniques.
